SpaZa was founded in 2012 by Canadian designer Julia Schaffer who was making functional household products that were alternatives to petroleum-based and plastic disposable items to use in her home. While entertaining Julia used to drape tea towels over all her dishes to keep fingers and flies away, but she had a problem when transporting her large salad bowl to a gathering. She set out to create a cover for her bowl out of one of her hand-printed tea towels.
